It was almost a clean sweep for the Silverbacks at the Tasmania vs Victoria Supermatches on 2 August 2014, with Victorians winning 9 out of the 10 matches against the Tasmanian Tigersnakes.
Five newcomers were initiated into the world of competitive armwrestling: Ben Gath, Paul Russon and Troy Reynolds from Tasmania; and Max Gibbins and Daniel Sturrat from Victoria. Sturrat made an impressive debut, winning both of his supermatches for the left and right arms 3-0.
Andrew Lea was by far the biggest rankings mover, being undefeated on both the left and right arms against new heavyweight Gath. Lea went up three places in the heavyweight right class to take 17th position, and was a new entry into the heavyweight left class at 12th position.
Lea also went up two places in the 90kg-100kg right and left classes, and one place in the 80kg-90kg right and left classes, in both cases overtaking his rival, Andrew Manfre.
However, John Bowley overtook Cauker in the 70kg-80kg left class following his 3-0 supermatch win against Cauker. Bowley is now ranked 7th in that class.
Jesse Johnson maintained his 100% win ratio against Cauker for the right arm, and remains ranked 4th in the 70kg-80kg right class and 2nd in the 70kg-80kg left class.
